A majority of Americans, 52 percent, oppose federal funding of embryonic
stem cell research while just 36 percent support it, according to a new poll
commissioned by the Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities of the U.S.

Eight members of the President's Council on Bioethics have, as
individuals, signed a letter to the Maryland Senate urging defeat of that
state's proposal to fund embryonic stem cell and cloning research. The
letter was hand-delivered to all state senators' offices on March 31, 2005.
